Have you seen any good math lately?

Here is a fun, super easy way to help your students start noticing that math is EVERYWHERE!  I put up a “Have you seen any good math lately?” board.  Students are invited to bring in anything that they find that relates to math.

In my classroom, we usually share it right at the end of our calendar time.  The class asks the person who brought someone “Have you seen any good math lately?” and the student who is sharing answers by explaining what they found and how they know its math.
Then we attach the item to the board with a note that reminds us what the mathematical significance is. The kids love it- it only takes a minute, and it really encourages them to make connections to the world!
